Vintage Postcards

Vintage postcards are not your ordinary postcards by today's standards! They have a category all by themselves.

Originally, we planned on using this category only as an example, on our paper example page.

But, as we began to think about, and write about, and research early postcards, we soon realized that we needed much, more space!

The category of collecting postcards is quite large, (in case you haven't noticed.)

Where to Start?

Why not here? Check out these new pages: Vintage Thanksgiving Postcards, Vintage Christmas Postcards,Vintage Easter Postcards New Years Greetings, Vintage Birthday Postcards.

Spring is near and here...

We've included many colorful vintage postcards from the early 1900's for you viewing pleasure.

Enjoy!

Let's start back at the beginning, or, at least, early on in the development of postcards. Let's take a brief look at post card history.

When postcards were at the height of their popularity, everyone loved them.

We even learned that Queen Victoria herself, enjoyed viewing postcards from around the world. Reportedly, she even started her own collection!

What to Collect?

The possibilities are nearly endless! There are dozens and dozens of categories when it comes to sorting them all out! We will list a few of the more popular ones on our collecting postcards page.

Where to Collect?

That's easy! We've already covered that in our collecting memories page! If you haven't already viewed it, we invite you to go back and check it out!

The short version answer of this question is this: flea markets, antique shops & malls, auctions (both live & ebay), garage sales, and of course, your own family & friends!

As you can plainly see, you can add to your collection of postcards from almost anywhere!

Special Note: When conducting your online search, try several combinations of the same (or related words). For example, by simply separating these words "Vintage Post Cards", you are likely to different search results.

What to Look for...

On this page, postcard condition, we'll go over what it is that you should look for in terms of the physical condition of the card itself.

Plus, we have even more on postcard guidelines.

If you are a serious collector, then you already know what to look for! But, if you're just getting started, then these pages are worth a look! Check it out!

Random Notes...

We love vintage postcards! Anybody that knows us...knows that to be true!

We have several boxes, (gulp!) full of old postcards. We also have several vintage postcard albums! (another gulp!)

We believe that the best ones are the vintage postcards from the early 1900's!

Our Advice?

If you are new to the game, or even a veteran collector, buy a bunch of cards together. i.e. a bundle, box, or bag. It's a good way to get a nice variety of cards in one purchase.

Professional collectors will normally pass on these as they are concentrating on very specific cards to add to their collections. And, who knows, sometimes you may get lucky!
