Vintage Ads

Who doesn't like looking at old vintage ads? We'll show you a few of our own here and on the following links.

We absolutely love looking at those old magazine ads. (And old newspaper ads too!) We feel that they are quite unique!

It was a different era then, wasn't it?

Many of these old ads are fabulously illustrated.

The attention to detail and (sometimes) lengthy body copy, are always imagininative.

(This ad came from a 1923 edition of Normal Instructor and Primary Plans. The magazine was for teachers and this ad was selling the latest fashion trends for the female.)

Wow! Just look at some of the examples here on this page, and on the others that follow...

In many ways, these old magazine ads are a form of art in, and of themselves.

They are often highly valued by many paper ephemera collectors.

Below are a few links to some of the more popular topics that many collectors are constantly searching for.

Check these pages out!

As you can easily guess by now, vintage ads have no limits!

What makes Vintage Ads So Collectible?

Well...many things! As with any ephemera collectible, personal taste and interest are essential.

In other words, if you like it, then buy it! Learn about it! Collect it!

Wait a minute!

Don't you think that lady in the Philipsborn's ad (above) looks a little like the lady in the Colgate ad.

And, the little girl (below) has some familiar features too! Hmnn!

Are Vintage ads Valuable?

There are collectors out there for everything and anything! We have experienced this firsthand.

Just keep in mind, finding a buyer may take time in some cases, for the more obscure items.

Be patient! Do your homework and keep searching. Sooner or later, you will find a buyer for your paper collectible.

In the meantime, protect those amazing old ads with the proper acid-free folders and paper. (see paper preservation and paper storage for more information.)

Handle them with care. If you want to display them, mount them on acid-free paper with acid-free corner mounts.

The value of these ads can, (and usually does) vary greatly. Is your ad highly collectible? For example, an early Coca Cola ad, perhaps with a Santa Claus?

Is that same ad in good to excellent condition? No folds, tears, rough edges, discoloration, water/oil marks? Even so, some older ads may still be worth saving!

In case you wondering, all of the above ads came from the same vintage magazine, mentioned above.

Colgate Toothpaste, Luden's Cough Drops, Typewriter Emporium, & Pepsodent.

This magazine was absolutely loaded with these vintage ads. We bought this magazine at an antique mall for a mere $3.00! These types of magazines are still out there folks! And plenty to choose from too! Keep looking!!!
