Use a Digital Frame to Display
.... your antique paper treasures....
A digital frame has many uses!
Not only can you view pictures, but you may also be able to watch video clips, display an electronic calendar or clock, view a slide-show, use it for digital storage of your photo's, and much more.
But how many people use it to display their antique paper treasures?
Simply load the digital images of your paper ephemera collectibles into your frame. Larger frames are now available!
These frames can produce fantastic, "actual-size" reproduction photo's of many common sized paper collectibles! AMAZING!
You can sit back and enjoy your fragile paper items without ever having to worry about damaging them!
Is that too cool, or what? Impress your friends while showing off your collectibles. You'll have plenty to talk about at your next party! Or, take it to work! It's a great "ice-breaker" for those awkward business meetings!
Using a Digital Frame - It's Easy!
In a modern world of cell phones, computers, and GPS units, the digital frame, by comparison, would be considered fairly simple to operate. Set-up and operation is normally, not all that hard!
Can you download pictures from your digital camera to your computer? Then you can operate a digtial frame! In fact, it's probably easier! Many frames don't even require you to own a computer! (Although, it is nice to have for photo editing, etc.)
Basically, it's as simple as downloading your photo's directly into the frame, choose the feature that you want (for viewing), and your done! Follow the manufacture's set-up/operation guide and you should be just fine!
Features May Vary...
All frames are not alike! (Well, mostly they are!) But there are some features that are more useful than others. Here are some to consider:
- Size - There are many choices when it comes to size. Most common sizes start in the 3.5-9 inch range. Coby actually makes a 1.5 inch photo keychain that holds up to 60 pictures.

- Resolution - Resolution is the number of pixels (clarity) of your picture, like on your television set or monitor. The higher the resolution number, the better! Typical resolution sizes are:
- 7 inch screens = 720 x 480
- 8 inch screens = 800 x 600
- 10 inch screens = 1024 x 768
- Memory - Internal memory with frames will vary. Obviously, the more memory your frame has, the more pictures you will be able to display. For example: 256MB of memory will store nearly 500 photo's. 2GB of memory could store 4000! Even the smallest of frames will normally hold at least 20-40 pictures.
- Frame Construction - Inexpensive frames will be made of a lightweight plastic, with a plastic screeen. Whereas, more expensive frames, will be made of a nice glossy acrylic or even "real" wood and "real" glass. Colors and styles will vary, with more and more choices coming all of the time!
- Power - Most frames use AC adapters as a power source. Some use rechargeable batteries! This is a point well worth considering, depending on where you intend to place that frame!
- Cost - Costs will vary with size and the added features included with the frame. For example, a basic 3.5 inch screen can be purchased for around $40. Move up to a 15 inch frame and you will likely pay $200-400, based on it's features!
More Features...
They are even more cool features to choose from! How about a HD format screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio? (Most come with 4:3 ratio, which is what most digital cameras shoot!) The 16:9 ratio will either crop the 4:3 photo or stretch it to fit the 16:9 screen. Though more expensive, most HD formats will play video clips with music...which can be pretty cool!
Some frames include an automatic shut-off feature...nice idea! This will save some energy for you as well as extend the life of the frame!
Want a remote control to operate your frame? That's also a nice feature! Or, perhaps touch-screen controls are more your style. Some, even include the touch feature on the frame's edge, so that you don't smudge your digital photo's.
A normal USB cable, (usually supplied with the frame) is the standard connection that you will need to make for your downloads to work. But, many frames will include mutiple storage formats for memory sticks(cards)and flash drives!
Wi-fi technology in frames is gaining in popularity, but not quite "mainstream" just yet! Wi-fi frames will allow you to access features such as news, weather, and traffic! (You must have a wi-fi network for these features to work!)
Updates with today's technology can be rapid! More "bells and whistles" are sure to come!

Random Notes...
The rapid growth of this category makes it hard to keep up with all of the changes! But, that's a good thing for you! You will benefit by getting more for your money!
Our Advice?
Read up and study before you buy! Make sure that the frame you purchase is compatible with your camera's memory card...and easy to use! Most have multiple memory card formats. If not, you may be able to purchase an adapter.
For example, the frame on the right has multiple memory card formats. (most do!) It uses a simple standard USB connection! And get this! It weighs slightly over 1 lb. That's it!
This frame would be a great addition to a desk (at the office or in your home)! Don't like this one? Don't worry, Amazon.com has hundreds of styles to chose from!
Also, take a close look at the AC adapter. How does it plug in to the frame? Can the cord be hidden easily and discretely? Dangling power cords can be annoying, distracting, and unsightly! Keep in mind, where you may display your frame when making your purchase!
