I have about 50 matchbooks. Most of them still have their matches. What condition is preferred by collectors? Should the striker be unused? joycemeryl@gmail.com

Joyce,

We suggest viewing the following sites for further, professional information: The Rathkamp Matchcover Society and The Vault.

We have links to both of these sites, on our site.

In general, you want the cover to be in pristine condition, without strike marks. The society (above) suggests that most collectors collect matchcovers, without the matches. (They tell you the best way to remove matches on their site.)

Older, highly collectible matchcovers, may still hold additional value even in "less than perfect" condition. Once again, we suggest checking with the professionals for price comparisons and additional advice.

Thanks Joyce for your submission and taking a peek at our site!
