Childhood Memories and Paper Collectibles
Did you know that all of that "stuff" could be considered paper ephemera? Did you know that you could probably fill up a "ton" of scrapbook pages with all of that "stuff"?
Got any of these? Yep! So do we...it's all good!
This page of our collectingpapermemories.com website will be devoted to the stuff we all collected as children. Though the possibilities are endless, we will try and focus on a few of the more popular collectibles. Here's some of the topics that we will be reviewing: Displaying school ProjectsGot kids? Yup! So do we! There's a good chance that you have a lot of the same stuff that we have...graded test papers, special reports, art projects, and about 1000 drawings! Right?We are going to provide you with some good ideas on displaying your kids school projects!
Or, perhaps, your kids did drawings on their own during the summer school break...those count too! Take them down off of the wall and preserve them! Your kids will thank you someday! Sports Card (and others) Memorabilia(Ever hear of Pokemon?)Baseball card collecting has been a favorite paper collectible for many, many generations! We all have some kind of sports cards or other trading cards tucked away somewhere!But, it's more than just baseball cards! Football, Basketball, Hockey, Auto Racing, and others! Plus, there are always various novelty cards! We have collected cards from Desert Storm to Pepsi-Cola; from Peanuts to Star Wars; from Toy Story to Superman! The categories are nearly endless! Oh, and don't forget Pokemon'!
There are probably hundreds of websites dedicated solely to baseball and other trading cards. We can't compete with all of those! But, we will try and give you some helpful information, anyway! Let's start by taking a look at the ever popular Pokemon card. Click on Pokemon cards to learn more about these favorite childhood memories! Teen MagazinesTeen magazines are the coolest! Don't be embarrassed! We know that you have a couple of those tucked away too! (We have a Tiger Beat magazine from the 1970's with Keith Partridge on the cover.)
So on this page, teen magazines, we'll cover a few ideas on what to do with the ones you already have!
...andTeen PostersWhile we're at it, let's combine teen posters, celebrity posters, sports posters, movie posters, etc. into this category as well. They kind of go together, don't they?
(Both, the teen magazines and the teen posters are from our daughter's room! Oh yes! There's much more!) Autographed MemorabiliaAgain, almost everyone has an autograph from someone famous (even if it is the local weatherman)! Maybe, you even have one of your teen magazines or a poster personally autographed!Autographs are very unique in themselves! C'mon! It's just a signature, right? But, of course, it's much more than that! It's a story! It's an event! It's a memory! Serious Kid CollectingOn a more serious note, you may already have a valuable collectible that was one of your childhood memories! Maybe, you have an autographed picture of John Wayne, or a signed baseball card from Hank Aaron. They are both very collectible!(Of course, that teen magazine, with a picture of Hannah Montanna on it, may not be worth much now, but...who knows?) Collecting baseball cards is (and has been) a serious hobby! Collecting autographs is a big business! Original movie posters, the ones from the theater, have been a long time collectible, as well! The point here is this. Those childhood memories may now be worth some money!
Random Notes...There are probably many childhood memories that you have...that we don't! ...and that's the point! We can't possibly cover everything; we're only dusting the surface here!
Our Advice? Pull out those childhood memories and dust them off...they may be worth something! Have fun with it! Frame an old magazine cover, or put together a collage of autographs or ticket stubs!
